Succulent Turtle 🐢🌱
Have you seen the succulent turtles on pinterest? I thought they were neat, so I wanted to make one. There are plenty of sites with instructions, try these three:
…If you’re interested. Really though, I bet you could figure it out from the pictures.
I used what we had around. I just bought a bit of potting & garden soil which I already needed for the vegetable garden. I used an old hanging basket, door screen, two different types of wire mesh that I had in the back yard, and some zip-ties. I had planned on using chicken-wire, but the other stuff seemed better suited to the task.
I did have to buy the plants. Anyone have any hens and chicks to hand over?
Also, I didn’t have four little flower pots… only two. But, I had an old branch, nails, glue, and a chainsaw… so Timmy the Turtle got wooden legs.
At least I can say I have used the potting bench.
If you make one, be sure to share your photo in the comments! Next time I’ll have to get sculpting with the chicken wire, and make a Bantha or a Tauntaun.

I got a bajillion birthday wishes on Facebook today (OK, only over 140, but it’s still a hell of a lot), one on Google+, and even a happy birthday wish over the radio airwaves thanks to the ever-awesome Whip!
I almost peed my pants last night when Bethany told me she saw that Duncan Redmonds (of Snuff, Guns ‘n’ Wankers, Dogpiss, Billy No Mates & 300 other of my favorite bands) had wished me a happy birthday.
I just wanted to say thanks to all my friends & family for the birthday wishes. I’m glad to each & every one of you, through the many interesting facets of life! I had over 130 people say happy birthday and the day’s not over. I’m glad I’ve made so many cool friends over the years, through school, work, camp, family, other friends, playing in bands, and even through social networking.
Bethany got me this cool Batman hat!

“Someday” if I ever get the time, energy, & resources… I’d like to record a CD of some of my favorite songs with whatever kind of band I can pull together, or maybe even a varied assortment of musician friends. Some of them are by bigger bands, some by locals, some by bands I’ve been in.
I’m sure there are more I’d want to include. There’s no real reason to this, other than I think they’re all solid songs and it would be all kinds of fun. Well, add any of the songs from my Ramones/Misfits/related bands list, really.
If anyone has better audio links for any of these… or any link at all for ones that aren’t click-able, I’d really appreciate your sharing of such things.
(I’d actually like to re-record most of the AiXeLsyD & Gasoline Dion catalogs, just because I think a little more attention to production could really polish some of that stuff. – Reunion gig or 2 anyone? Ha ha.)
What songs do you dig enough to cover? Any of these? Ever hear of any of these? Ha ha. What would be on your album were you to do the same thing?

Snuff is probably my favorite band. I know virtually nothing about them, and every time I think I have a pretty damn close-to-complete collection of their stuff, I discover that I’m all kinds of wrong.
They seem to have different titles for the same songs. They have different recorded versions of many songs, which I really dig. They sing in Japanese and I think other languages sometimes. They have incredibly nonsensical album and song titles. I’ve never seen them live. They do a ton of crazy covers, and it’s hard to tell that they’re covers sometimes.
When I look them up on Wikipedia, I realize that there current/former members list is incomplete. I can only seem to find scraps and tidbits of information pieced together from outdated label sites. I don’t really know anything other than that there was an original formation, a revival, and a few changes since then… with Duncan Redmonds seeming to be the only constant. I have n idea why there were lineup changes.
There used to be an awesome site, Snuff.net… but it fell into the stagnant perpetual “updates coming soon” mode before it disappeared completely. I tried to start a Yahoo! Group, but there aren’t many of us on the list.
I know that there’s a seemingly infinite number of spin-off bands including (but not limited to) Guns ‘N’ Wankers, Dogpiss, Billy No Mates, Southport, Your Mum, Pot Kettle Black, URIN-8, and the list goes on.
Maybe I dig them more because they’re still a mystery? I really do enjoy actively earching for information about the seemingly now defunct Snuff & the related bands… especially whatever Duncan Redmonds has going on at any given moment. Maybe I’ll get it all sorted out some day.
